Sarah Cowan

Sarah is chief credit officer for of National Bank of Middlebury, a $350 Million community bank serving west central Vermont.  In her capacity, Cowan oversees credit risk management and loan production for the bank’s commercial and residential loan programs and is responsible for the development and analysis of the allowance for loan and lease losses. She is also the bank’s appointed Community Reinvestment Act Officer, Regulation O officer and sits on the Asset & Liability and Enterprise Risk Management committees.

Sarah currently serves on the Risk Management Association (RMA) Board of Directors and its Community Bank Council. She is past Chairperson of the Vermont Bankers Association, and past President and current Treasurer of Addison County (Vermont) Economic Development Corporation.

National Bank of Middlebury has been a MST – Loan Loss Analyzer client since 2016.  The impetus in seeking out the LLA software was driven by the bank’s desire to gain efficiency in the ALLL process as well as to work with a strong partner as the bank develops its CECL methodology.

Sarah completed her banking studies at The Graduate School of Banking at Colorado and graduated with an A.B. in Psychology from Colby College, Waterville Maine.
